
CHARGERS COMPLETE SEASON SWEEP OVER BEARS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/31/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team rallied to beat the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU in a CACC contest on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers fell behind 1-0 before winning three straight sets for the 3-1 victory and season sweep over the Bears.
The Chargers improve to 9-17 overall and 7-6 in the CACC while the Bears fall to 3-12 overall and 3-10 in the CACC.
The Bears edged the Chargers in the opening set 25-22 for the 1-0 lead. Dominican bounced back in the second and got off to a fast start.
The Chargers closed out the second set by outscoring BC 9-4 to tie the match at 1-1. The third set started off even before the Chargers used a 5-0 to extend their lead and a 6-1 run to close it out.
Dominican jumped out to another early lead in the fourth set and never looked back as they closed out the 3-1 victory.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) and Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) combined for 22 kills and 28 points. Carr also added six digs while Perez added nine digs and three service aces.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) added eight kills, 9.5 points, and three block assists. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) recorded a team-high 14 digs while Maura Asadourian (Schertz, Texas) added 39 assists.
Gloria Cranney (Bentonville, Ark.) finished with six kills and seven points while Andreya Davis (Peekskill, N.Y.) added six kills and 7.5 points.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow night when they host West Chester University for their final non-conference match of the season at 7:00 PM.
