
VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN CACC QUARTERFINALS TO CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Philadelphia, Pa. (11/14/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team fell to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in the 2023 CACC Women's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals.
The #2 seed in the south division Chestnut Hill College defeated the #3 seed in the north DU 3-0.
Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) finished the match with 10 kills and six digs. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) added 6.5 points, four kills, three block assists, and one solo block.
Layla Shipley (Latham, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 17 assists and recorded 5.5 points. Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) added a team-high nine digs while Abigail Thompson (Aledo, Texas) and Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) each added six digs.
CHC took the first set 25-23 after trailing the Chargers 17-13 and used a 6-2 run to tie the score at 19-19. The Griffins finished the first set strong to take a 1-0 match lead.
The Griffins rolled to a 2-0 advantage after taking the second set by a score of 25-7.
The Chargers jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the third set before the Griffins fought their way back to cut the deficit and eventually took the lead.
The Chargers regained a three-point lead before the Griffins used a 7-2 run to go out in front and never looked back to secure the victory.
Erika Dubosky led the way for CHC with 17 points, 14 kills, and 13 digs. Rachel Mace finished with 14 points, nine kills, and eight digs. Mia Caporellie added a team-high 30 assists.
