CHARGERS TABBED SECOND IN THE NORTH DIVISION IN 2024 CACC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON POLL

New Haven, Conn. (8/28/24) The two teams that met in last season's conference championship final -- University of Bridgeport and Thomas Jefferson University -- find themselves back in familiar territory on Wednesday as they were voted first in their respective divisions in the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.

The Purple Knights, who won a five-set thriller over the Rams to hoist the CACC Championship crown in 2023, topped the North Division in this year's preseason poll with 66 points and 11 of 12 first-place votes. The Rams headed up the South with 65 points and 10 of 12 first-place tallies. UB's win over Jefferson last fall ended the Rams' bid for three-consecutive CACC Championships.

Rounding out the top four in the North Division included Dominican University (2nd, 49 pts), Felician University (3rd, 46 pts) and Post University (4th, 40 pts, 1 1st-place vote). The 2nd through 4th-place teams in the South Division included Wilmington University (2nd, 46 pts, 1 1st place), Georgian Court University (3rd, 41 pts) and Chestnut Hill College (4th, 40 pts). The top-four teams in each division following the completion of the regular season will earn bids to the conference post-season tournament.

The 2024 regular season gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 5, as several schools will be competing in early-season neutral-site tournaments on various campuses. The season will be a buildup to the CACC Championship tournament which will be held in late November. The quarterfinals will take place at the sites of the highest seeds on Tuesday, Nov. 19, followed by the semifinals and championship final on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 23-24, at Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J. The winner of the CACC playoffs earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in early December at a site to be determined.
