
CARR RECORDS CAREER HIGH IN KILLS AS DOMINICAN DOWNS GOLDEN RAMS IN FIVE SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/13/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team took down the Golden Rams of West Chester University in five sets for their first win of the season on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers improve to 1-1 overall while the Golden Rams fall to 2-4 overall.
The Golden Rams won sets one and three by a score of 25-19 each while the Chargers took the second set by a score of 25-15.
In the fourth set, trailing two sets to one, the Chargers jumped in front 14-10 after a 7-3 run. WCU answered by cutting the deficit to 21-20 but the Chargers never lost the lead and forced a fifth and final set.
A back and forth fifth and decisive set saw 10 lead changes but the Chargers scored the final two points on back to back kills by Kaitlyn Carr to take the set 18-16 and the match 3-2.
Carr finished the match with a career high in kills with 26 and points with 26.5. Carr also added 12 digs. Elizabeth Perez finished with 18 kills, 18.5 points, and 11 digs. Linda Armao Peng added a team-high 24 digs Kaeden Sanstead recorded a match-high 49 assists and also added 18 digs.
Savannah Tody recorded nine kills while Aaliyah Ellis finished with eight kills. Lindley McCutcheon added 12 digs.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow afternoon on the road for a doubleheader with Millersville University beginning at 12:00 PM.
