
CHARGERS SWEEP BEARS IN CACC OPENER
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/18/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU in their CACC opener.
The Chargers improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC while the Bears fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Dominican opened the match with a 25-17 victory for the 1-0 lead. The Chargers used a 17-6 run to take the second set 25-14 for the 2-0 lead. Dominican trailed 9-7 early but used a 12-1 run to extend to a double digit lead and secured the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Kaitlyn Carr finished with 11 kills and added two service aces and one block assist for 13.5 points. Savannah Tody added eight kills while Linda Armao Peng and Elizabeth Perez each recorded a team-high seven digs.
Abigail Thompson finished with six digs while Setter Layla Shipley recorded a match high 28 assists.
Aaliyah Ellis added five kills including one solo block and one block assist.
The Chargers return to action this Friday when they host the Lions of Lincoln University for a non-conference match up at 6:00 PM in the Hennessy Center.
