
CHARGERS DEFEAT LINCOLN LIONS IN FOUR SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y (9/20/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team defeated the Lions of Lincoln University in non-conference action on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers improve to 3-3 overall while the Lions fall to 0-5 overall.
Dominican jumped in front with a 25-21 victory in the opening set. Lincoln bounced back in the second set with a 25-23 lead to tie the match 1-1.
Dominican used a 7-1 run to extend their late lead in the third set. Lincoln made a late push but the Chargers held on for the 25-22 win and 2-1 lead. Dominican used a 6-1 run late in the fourth set to solidify the 3-1 victory.
Kaitlyn Carr led the way for the Chargers with 15 kills, nine digs, and 17 points scored. Savannah Tody finished with nine kills, two service aces, and three total blocks for 13 points. Gloria Cranney finished with nine kills while Andreya Davis added eight kills.
Kylie Flynn recorded a team-high 19 digs while Layla Shipley finished with a team leading 28 assists.
The Chargers return to action and conference play next Tuesday when they visit the University of Bridgeport at 7:00 PM.
