
CHARGERS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT AS THEY TAKE DOWN PURPLE KNIGHTS IN FIVE SETS
Bridgeport, Conn. (9/24/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team took down the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport in five sets in CACC action at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, Conn.
The Chargers win their third straight match and improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Both teams traded wins through the first four sets with Dominican taking the first and third sets while the Purple Knights won the second and fourth sets.
Both teams went back and forth for the first four points of the final set and UB extended to a 7-4 lead. Three straight kills tied the set back up at 7-7.
Both teams went back and forth again down the stretch and with the set tied at 15-15, back to back kills by Kaitlyn Carr and Aaliyah Ellis completed the victory.
Carr and Elizabeth Perez combined for 37 kills, 27 digs, and 41.5 points. Savannah Tody added 10 kills while Ellis finished with nine kills and eight total blocks which included seven block assists.
Linda Armao Peng recorded a team-high 19 digs while Kaeden Sanstead finished with a season high 51 assists.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow night as they return home to host non-conference opponent Southern Connecticut State University on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center at 6:30 PM.
