
LIONS RALLY PAST CHARGERS
Lakewood, N.J. (10/5/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team fell to the Lions of Georgian Court University in five sets from the campus of Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
The Chargers fall to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play while the Lions complete the comeback to improve to 7-5 and 4-0.
The Chargers took a 2-0 match lead after 25-19 and 26-24 wins over the opening two sets. The Chargers jumped out to an early 8-2 in the third set but the Lions used an 8-1 run to take the lead and continued on their way to the 25-20 win to get on the board.
The Lions jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the fourth set but the Chargers answered with an 11-5 run to tie the set at 12-12. GCU outscored the Chargers 13-10 on their way to the 25-22 victory in the fourth set to force the fifth and final set.
The Chargers took an early 7-3 lead in the fifth set and the Lions answered with a 7-2 run to take the lead. The Lions completed the comeback after back to back kills to secure the fifth set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
Kaitlyn Carr led the way for the Chargers with a match high 24 kills and 28 points. Carr also recorded three service aces, three total blocks and eight digs. Elizabeth Perez finished with 22 points on 18 kills, three service aces, and two block assists.
Kaeden Sanstead had a match high 46 assists while Linda Armao Peng had 23 digs which was also a match high. Aaliyah Ellis picked up a team-high six block assists.
The Chargers will look to bounce back on Tuesday night when they return home to host the Golden Falcons of Felician University at 7:00 PM on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
