CARR RECORDS 1,000TH CAREER KILL AS DOMINICAN OUTLASTS FELICIAN UNIVERSITY IN FIVE SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/8/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team outlasted the Golden Falcons of Felician University in five sets.
Senior Kaitlyn Carr recorded her 1,000th career kill in the first set of tonight's match.
Dominican improves to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the CACC. Felician falls to 5-12 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.
The Chargers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a 25-17 victory in the first set. The Golden Falcons answered by winning back to back sets to take a 2-1 match lead.
Felician fought back from a five point deficit and a six point deficit to win the second set. The Golden Falcons used a 12-4 run in the third set to take the lead and held off a late push by the Chargers to take a 2-1 lead.
Dominican used a 6-2 run and an 11-4 run to take the fourth set and force a fifth and final set.
Trailing 8-7, the Chargers went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-8 lead and then finished the set on an 8-1 run to take the fifth set 15-9 and the match 3-2.
Carr finished the match with a team-high 16 kills and scored 19 points. Carr also added 13 digs, three total blocks, and one service ace.
Elizabeth Perez recorded 12 kills and scored 13.5 points while also adding 14 digs. Aaliyah Ellis had seven kills and seven total blocks including six block assists. Ellis finished with 11 points scored.
Andreya Davis added six kills while Savannah Tody recorded five kills. Kaeden Sanstead finished with a match high 45 assists and recorded 10 digs. Linda Armao Peng recorded a team-high 21 digs while Abigail Thompson finished with 11 digs.
The Chargers return to action at home this Saturday when they host the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University on Coach Baxter Court at 12:00 PM.
