DOMINICAN DEFEATS WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
Newark, Del. (11/2/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team won their third straight match this afternoon as they swept the Wildcats of Wilmington University in CACC action.
The Chargers, earning their third consecutive 3-0 sweep, improved to 10-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
Dominican opened the match with a 25-21 win in the first set. DU opened the second set on a 7-0 run and extended to a 13-4 lead before WILMU cut the deficit to six points. The Chargers ended the second set on a 6-2 run for the 2-0 advantage.
Wilmington's largest lead in the third set was four and the Chargers went on an 11-1 run to take control on their way to the 25-22 win to close out the sweep.
Elizabeth Perez led the way for the Chargers with 15.5 points scored on team-highs in kills with 10 and service aces with five. Perez also added 11 digs and one block assist.
Aaliyah Ellis and Kaitlyn Carr each recorded eight kills with Carr adding three block assists and one service ace for 10.5 points. Kaeden Sanstead added team-highs in assists with 25 and digs with 12.
Linda Armao Peng recorded 11 digs while Lindley McCutcheon recorded seven kills and four service aces for 11 points.
Savannah Tody finished with four kills while Abigail Thompson recorded four digs.
The Chargers return to action next Thursday night to take on CACC north division rival Post University on the road at 6:00 PM.
