
GRIFFINS OUTLAST CHARGERS IN FIVE SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/9/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team dropped a conference match at home this afternoon to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College.
The Chargers fall to 10-10 overall and 7-6 in conference play while the Griffins improve to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in the CACC.
The Griffins got out to a 1-0 match lead after starting off strong in the opening set by getting off to a fast start. Despite a late push by DU, CHC took the first set 25-17.
Dominican bounced back and downed the Griffins in back to back sets 25-12 and 25-11 to take a 2-1 advantage.
The Griffins answered by outlasting the Chargers with a 26-24 win in the fourth set to force a fifth and final set.
CHC used a 9-3 run in the fifth set on their way to the 15-9 win and secured the 3-2 match victory.
Kaitlyn Carr recorded a match high 20 kills and finished with 21.5 points as well as five digs. Elizabeth Perez added 17.5 points scored on 12 kills, five service aces, and one block assist. Perez also recorded eight digs.
Alexandria De Iasi provided eight kills and five block assists while Aaliyah Ellis added five kills and a team-high six block assists. Savannah Tody recorded three kills, three block assists, and two service aces.
Setter Kaeden Sanstead recorded a match high 39 assists as well as 10 digs. Linda Armao Peng added a team-high 18 digs.
The Chargers will return to action next Wednesday night when they visit Felician University.
