DOMINICAN WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN OVER CALDWELL ON SENIOR DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/24) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team defeated the Cougars of Caldwell University in their 2024 regular season finale.
Dominican finishes the regular season with an overall record of 11-12 and a CACC record of 8-8.
Prior to this afternoon's match, the Chargers celebrated their Seniors with a pregame ceremony. Seniors: Kaitlyn Carr, Nicolette Piscopo, Abigail Thompson, Aaliyah Ellis, Lindley McCutcheon, Mackenzie Chambers, and Andreya Davis were all honored in the pregame ceremony.
Dominican opened the match with a 25-18 victory in the first set and rolled to a 2-0 match lead after a 25-13 win in the second set. In the third set, Dominican led the whole way and their largest lead was five points as CU would cut the lead to 16-15. The Chargers extended their lead down the stretch on their way to the 25-21 victory and earned the sweep.
Carr led the way in kills with 13 and 13 points scored. McCutcheon recorded eight kills while Ellis and Chambers each added seven kills. Thompson recorded a team high 14 digs.
Piscopo picked up seven digs while Davis added two kills and one block assist.
Setter Kaeden Sanstead recorded 31 assists and picked up a team high six service aces.
Next up for the Chargers is the 2024 CACC Women's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals next Tuesday. Opponent and time are TBD.
