Dominican University New York Athletic Department
Dominican University New York sponsors 17 intercollegiate sports (men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field), which compete for championships at the NCAA Division II level. Dominican is also a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) a conference comprised of 13 schools from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Dominican athletes have taken to the field for over 50 years, competing for local, regional and national recognition. Dominican University New York's varsity teams have won numerous conference and tournament championships, as well as two ECAC Championships. The men's soccer program received the school's first bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2005. The baseball program made their NCAA Tournament debut in 2005 and the Lady Charger basketball program received their first NCAA Tournament berth during the 2007-08 season.
The Lady Charger softball squad made their first NCAA East Regional Tournament appearance in 2009, which began a five-year run of East Regional Tournament Appearances.
Charger golfer Brian Mackey won the Northeast/East Super Regional in 2008 and went on the school's first ever appearance at an NCAA Championship and finished in a tie for 32nd place.
In 2017, the golf team won the school's first NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship and made the school's first team appearance at an NCAA Division II National Championship.
The athletic program is recognized as one of the finest in the metropolitan area, among small colleges.
The 25,000 square-foot Hennessy Center is home to the men's and women's basketball teams, and the women’s volleyball team. An exercise facility, available to members of the University community, can also be found in the Hennessy Center along with a fitness center, suspended track, locker rooms, the athletic department offices and multi-purpose space. The Hennessy Center gymnasium has seating for 1000 spectators.
