DOMINICAN EARNS SPLIT WITH BEARS
Little Ferry, N.J. (4/6/21) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with host, Bloomfield College, in games played today at Shannon Dalton Forde Field. DC won the first game, 9-2 while the Bears won the nightcap, 8-0 in five innings.

Little Ferry, N.J. (4/6/21) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with host, Bloomfield College, in games played today at Shannon Dalton Forde Field. DC won the first game, 9-2 while the Bears won the nightcap, 8-0 in five innings.
With the split, Dominican is now 9-9 overall and 8-2 in conference play.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when the Lady Chargers struck for three runs on three hits and an error. With two outs, third basemen Haylee Redmond-Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) doubled home a run and rightfielder Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) followed with an RBI single. A BC fielding error allowed the third run to score and give DC the 3-0 lead.
Ahead 3-1, the Dominican offense came alive in the sixth inning as they scored six runs on five hits and three errors. Left fielder Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) got things going with a two-run double, while Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) followed two batters later with a fielder's choice that allowed a run to come home. Ridge followed with a run-scoring single and later Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) delivered a two out two-run double to center field for the 9-1 lead.
Bloomfield scored a run in the bottom of the sixth for the final 9-2 score.
Ridge, Hester and Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) all had two hits in the game with Ridge adding two RBI and Bowe collecting two stolen bases.
Walker had a team leading three RBI, while O'Reilly recorded two RBI.
Starter Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) picked up the complete game win (3-3), allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts.
Game Two: The Bear offense exploded with eight runs on nine hits in game two. The first two runs scored in their first at-bat of the game and they tacked on five more runs in the fourth. A run in the fifth gave them the 8-0 win in five innings.
Bowe recorded the lone hit for the Lady Chargers.
Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) took the loss in three and 1/3 innings of work to fall to 5-2 on the season.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Concordia College.
