Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/1/21) The Dominican College softball team downed the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in both games of a conference doubleheader.
The Lady Chargers finished the regular season with a record of 21-13 (20-6 CACC). The Lightning fall to 5-18 (5-18 CACC).
Today was Senior Day as five seniors were celebrated prior to the doubleheader. Congratulations to Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.), Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.), Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.), and Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.).
Game One: The Lady Chargers took down the Lightning in game one by a score of 19-2. Smith earned her eighth win of the year for DC.
The Lady Chargers pounded 19 hits in the win. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Siess, and Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) each finished with three hits and three RBIs. Siess and Walker hit two home runs each. Miscia also homered and recorded a double.
Hester finished with two hits including a homer and three RBIs. Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) also finished with three RBIs and two hits.
Schwalb added two hits and two RBIs. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) recorded two hits and one RBI.
Bowe, Miscia, Redmond Ridge, and Schwalb each added one stolen base.
The Lady Chargers started the game off with four runs in the first three innings. DC blew the game open in the fourth inning with 15 runs to secure the win in five innings.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers completed the sweep with a 13-5 win in game two. Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) recorded her third win of the season. Carbonara recorded eight strikeouts in the win.
Bowe finished with a team-high three hits including a double and scored two runs. Miscia added a double and two RBIs.
Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) added two hits including a home run and a double. Haggerty finished with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bailey Bell (Washington, Pa.) added two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
Walker and Schwalb added two RBIs each. Smith and Redmond Ridge added one RBI each.
For GBC, Hannah Davis finished with two hits and two runs scored. Braydee Whitman added an RBI double. Haley Miller hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action for the 2021 CACC playoffs next week. The date and time will be announced later.
