Bloomfield, N.J. (1/13/21) The Dominican College women's basketball team outlasted the Bears of Bloomfield College in overtime by a score of 77-72.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 7-7 (2-2 CACC). The Bears fall to 2-11 (0-5 CACC).
Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) led all scorers with 17 points and added eight rebounds. Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) added 15 points including four three-pointers.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) finished with 14 points and added a team-high five steals. Suarez also added seven rebounds and five assists while Olivia Levy (Stony Point, N.Y.) added 10 points.
Jasmine McDuffie and Daniya Darby each scored 12 points for the Bears. Darby added nine rebounds. DaShanique Ruffin scored 10 points and recorded nine rebounds. Taneshia Tucker finished with nine points, six rebounds, and five assists.
The Chargers opened the game with 25 points in the first quarter. The Bears closed the gap by halftime and the Chargers held a 38-33 lead.
The Bears used a big third quarter to take the lead from the Chargers heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears held their largest lead over the Chargers which was nine points. The Chargers used an 18-9 run to end the fourth quarter tied 66-66.
In overtime, the Chargers jumped out to an 8-1 run to open OT. The Bears cut the DC lead to 74-72 but the Chargers added three points late to secure the 77-72 victory.
DC will be back in action on Saturday, January 15th when they return home to host the University of the Sciences at 1:00 PM.
