Philadelphia, Pa. (10/9/21) The Dominican College women's soccer team was edged in overtime by the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 5-4 (4-1 CACC). The Rams improve to 5-3-1 (5-1 CACC) and snap DC's four-game winning streak.
Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) started in net for the Chargers and recorded nine saves. Jackie Martino made two saves for the Rams.
Both teams played to a 0-0 tie in the first half. The Rams outshot DC in the opening half 9-2. Drummond made three saves in the first half to keep the Rams off of the board.
The Chargers got on the board 24 seconds into the second half after a goal by Alyana Gonel (Teaneck, N.J.) for the 1-0 lead. Danai Chimedza (Atlanta, Ga.) earned an assist on the goal.
Later in the half, the Rams tied the score when Ava Albergo scored off of a deflection from a corner kick. Grace Kenville recorded the assist on the goal.
The game remained scoreless through the rest of the second half. The Rams took 11 total shots in the second half and Drummond made six saves.
The Rams sealed the victory on a Laural Erick goal that was unassisted at 97:16 of OT.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to Caldwell University on Tuesday, October 12th for a CACC match-up with the Cougars. The game is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
