WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS SHORT TO CONCORDIA COLLEGE IN FIVE SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/26/21) The Dominican College Women’s Volleyball team fell to the Clippers of Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in five sets 3-2.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/26/21) The Dominican College Women's Volleyball team fell to the Clippers of Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in five sets 3-2.
After the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 0-3 (0-3 CACC), and the Clippers improve to 2-0 (2-0 CACC) after the win.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) led the way with 16 points, 15 kills, and 15 digs. Zoe Clifford (Suffern, N.Y.) added 10.5 points and nine kills. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) finished with a team-high in digs with 27.
Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) led the team in assists with 30 and added 23 digs. Krystal Paulino (Bronx, N.Y.) added 13 digs.
Madison Gardner led the Clippers in points with 25.5. Gardner also finished the match with a team-leading 19 kills and also eight digs. Nelly Diaz led the team in digs with 26. Kiara Abreu recorded a team-high 31 assists.
The first set was evenly matched, and DC came out on top 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Clippers bounced back in match two and started off on a 10-2 run over DC. The Lady Chargers were able to close the gap, but Concordia was able to secure the 25-16 win to even the match at 1-1.
Concordia followed up their strong effort in the second set with their second straight win in the third set to take a 2-1 match lead.
The Lady Chargers bounced back in the fourth set with a 25-20 win to force a fifth and final set.
In the final set of the match, both teams were tied at 11 apiece. The Clippers were able to finish the match with a 15-12 win in set number five.
DC will be back in action when they travel to Holy Family University on Sunday, February 28th. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 P.M.
