VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY
Lakewood, N.J. (3/9/21) The Dominican College Women’s Volleyball team traveled to Georgian Court University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball match with the Lions.
Lakewood, N.J. (3/9/21) The Dominican College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Georgian Court University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball match with the Lions.
GCU swept DC 3-0 to improve to 6-2 (5-0 CACC) on the season and the Lady Chargers fall to 0-6 (0-5 CACC).
The Lions took the opening set by a score of 25-8, then followed up with a 25-22 win in the second set and completed the sweep with a 25-19 win in the final set.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) led the way for DC with eight points, eight digs, and eight kills. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) recorded a team-high 12 digs. Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) led the team in assists with 16.
Kinsy Haschke led GCU with 10 points and 10 kills. Haschke also added six digs. Triby Kite recorded 11 assists. Paula Cespedes finished with 11 digs.
In the first set, GCU jumped out in front by scoring the first six points of the set and continued their strong play over DC to secure the win. In the second set, DC was trailing and fought back to close the gap to 24-22 but GCU was able to earn the set-point to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, DC held an early lead over GCU but the Lions used a 7-0 run to take the lead and eventually closed out the win in the third set to secure the victory for the match.
DC will look to bounce back on Thursday, March 11th when they return home for a conference match against the Golden-Falcons of Felician University at 6:00 P.M.
