Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/13/21) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match to the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician University, 3-2, this evening in a match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/13/21) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match to the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician University, 3-2, this evening in a match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Following the loss, Dominican falls to 3-14 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
DC won the first set by the score of 25-23 before Felician countered with a 25-18 win in set two. The Chargers took the 2-1 win with the 25-18 set win, but the Golden Falcons answered back in the fourth set with the 25-20 win to force the decisive fifth set.
In the fifth set Felician used a 5-1 run to put them at match point, 14-12, but the Chargers rallied with three straight kills and an attack error to tie the score at 14-14. The Golden Falcons were able to score the next two points to secure the 16-14 set win and 3-2 match victory.
Freshman outside hitter Kaitlin Carr (Rogers, Ark.) posted a career high 23 kills and completed the double-double with 12 defensive digs.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) also had a career high with 17 kills, a .387 attack percentage and three block assists, while Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) added 13 kills and 12 digs.
Setter Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a match high 54 assists and 17 digs, while libero Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) finished with a team best 20 digs.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday when they travel to the University of the Sciences.
