MEN'S BASKETBALL UPENDED BY DAEMEN COLLEGE
Amherst, N.Y. (11/12/16) The Dominican College men's basketball team fell in the finale of the ECC-CACC Challenge presented by WNY Knee and Orthopedic Surgery PC and hosted by Daemen College, 60-49, this afternoon in a game played in Lumsden Gymnasium.

Dominican (1-1) opened the game with the first three points and extended the lead to 9-5 following a three-point bucket from Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) and a free throw from E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) with 14:53 remaining in the first half.
A 15-1 run by the Wildcats put them ahead, 20-12, but a three from Kevin Silverberg (Bronx, N.Y.) brought the Chargers within five, 20-15, with a little over six minutes remaining in the first stanza. A 14-7 closing run for Daemen increased their lead to 34-22.
The Chargers opened the second half on a 12-6 run to pull with win six points (40-34) with 14:32 to go, but the Wildcats netted the next five points to maintain the lead for good en route to teh 60-49 win.
Foward Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted the game's only double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while adding four blocks and three steals in the loss.
Rodwell finished with 11 points and Kristopher Hargraves (Teaneck, N.J.) scored six points.
Freshman Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) came off the bench to record a team leading three assists.
For his efforts in the two games, Irvin was named to the All-Tournament Team.
DC will open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this coming Wednesday night as they travel to Post University.
