CHARGERS DOWN CLIPPERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/3/16) The Dominican College men's basketball team downed the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 78-54, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/3/16) The Dominican College men's basketball team downed the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 78-54, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Dominican opened the first half, outscoring the Clippers 13-3, capped off by back-to-back layups from junior forward Austin John Huggins (Astoria, Queens). The Chargers would end the half with a magnificient shot from CACC Rookie of the Week, Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.), from behind the half court line to extend the DC lead to 39-22.
DC would lead by as many as 35 points in the second stanza en route to the win.
The Chargers went a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line in the win.
Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led three Chargers in double figures and recorded the game's only double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Rodwell finished with 14 points, going 4-7 from the arc and 5-10 from the floor.
Huggins netted 13 points, while Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 11 points off the bench.
Kristopher Hargraves (Teaneck, N.J.) and Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) both had five assists in the win.
With the win, Dominican improves to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in CACC play.
The Chargers will travel to Felician University this coming Tuesday night.
