CHARGERS RALLY TO DEFEAT SAINT MICHAEL'S COLLEGE
Colchester, Vt. (12/30/16) The Dominican College men's basketball rallied from a 38-37 first half deficit to defeat the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights, 84-74, this afternoon in a game played in the Ross Sports Center.

With the win, Dominican improves to 8-5 overall.
The first frame saw twelve tied scores and seven lead changes. The Purple Knights led 16-12 with 11:35 to play, when the Chargers charged back with a 7-0 run, sparked by five points from junior Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) to give Dominican the 19-16 advantage. DC led 37-36 on a layup from Kristopher Hargraves (Teaneck, N.J.) with 31 seconds left in the half, but a tip-in as time expired gave Saint Michael's the one-point lead at the break.
Irvin finished the half with 12 points and six rebounds.
Freshman Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) netted eight points and three setals.
The Purple Knights led 49-44 with 15:38 to play when the Chargers rallied with a 25-4 tear to lead by 16 (69-53) with 8:39 on the clock. Sophomore E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) score nine points during the run, including the three-point basket that put the Chargers up for good.
Irvin netted a team high 24 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
Grant and Smith each finished with 12 points, while Grant had a team best four steals.
Austin John Huggins (Astoria, Queens) scored 11 points, while Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) grabbed seven boards.
Dominican will host Merrimack College on January 2nd. Tip-off is slated for 2pm on Coach Baxter Court.
