Freshman Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) had a team high 22 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) produced the game's only other double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Sophomore Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 10 points, while starter Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) netted 10 points and three assists.
A three-point bucket from guard E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) gave Dominican a 19-6 lead with 10:53 remaining in the first half, but the 'Cats came back with a 14-2 run to tie the score a 21-all with 5:32 on the clock. An 11-3 closing run put Wilmington up 32-24.
Wilmington led 54-44 with 9:34 remaining in regulation when DC charged back with a 16-5 tear, capped off by two free throws from Grant to regain a 60-59 advantage. With 2:26 to go, consecutive free throws from Irvin put the Chargers up 68-65. A trey from WU re-tied the game and two charity stripe shots gave them a 70-68 lead. Dominican had chances in the final minute to tie the score, but were unable to convert.
Dominican (9-7, 4-3 CACC) will travel to Holy Family University this coming Tuesday.
