Junior Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted what would be the game-winning basket with 0:12.5 left in regulation. He finished the game with 14 points and a team high eight rebounds.
The second half featured five ties and four lead changes, with the Chargers biggest lead being five points. Forward Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) delivered a key three-point bucket with 1:57 to go to give them a 69-64 advantage.
DC trailed 70-69 with 49 ticks left when rookie guard Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) failed to connect on a three and was able to grab his own rebound. Following a Dominican timeout, Grant inbounded the ball under his own basket and found Irvin who was able to lay the ball in the hoop. A baseline jumper by Felician rimmed out with two seconds left and the ball was knocked out of bounds as time expired.
Guard E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) came off the bench to score a team best 16 points, going 6-9 from the floor and 4-6 from the arc.
Senior Kristopher Hargraves (Teaneck, N.J.) scored 10 points and five boards, while Grant produced a team high four assists, to go along with nine points.
With the win, Dominican improves to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in CACC play.
The Chargers return to action on January 24th as they travel to Concordia College.
