RODWELL NETS 22 POINTS IN WIN OVER CALDWELL UNIVERSITY

(2/1/17) Revenging a loss earlier in the season the Dominican College men's basketball team defeated the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 82-66, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

Freshman Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) led five Chargers in double figures with 22 points, shooting six of nine from the three point arc.
Forward Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) grabbed a night high 19 rebounds and added 14 points to record his 11th double-double of the season.
Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) scored 10 points, while Kristopher Hargarves (Teaneck, N.J.) and Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded eight and seven assists in the win.
Dominican received offense off the bench as shooter E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) tallied 12 points (7-8 from the foul line) and Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) contributed 10 points and five boards.
For the contest, the Chargers out rebounded the Cougars, 41-24.
DC never trailed in the game as the used a 19-4 first half run to give them a 21-6 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the first half. Caldwell rallied to cut the deficit to 31-23 at the break.
A Cook layup with 13:57 left in regulation extended the lead ot 51-35, but the Cougars would again rally and cut the lead to 59-52 with 6:54 on the clock. A 7-1 DC spurt rebuilt the lead to 66-53 and the team would never look back as they went on to the win.
With the victory, Dominican improves to 13-9 overall and 8-5 in CACC play.
The Chargers will host Chestnut Hill College this coming Saturday for the 29th Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Game.
