SOFTBALL SWEEPS HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, Pa. (3/13/16) The Dominican College softball team opened the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of their season with a double-header sweep over the Tigers of Holy Family University today in games played at Bensalem High School. Dominican won the opening game 5-3 and took the nightcap 6-3 in nine innings to improve to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

(3/13/16) The Dominican College softball team opened the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of their season with a double-header sweep over the Tigers of Holy Family University today in games played at Bensalem High School. Dominican won the opening game 5-3 and took the nightcap 6-3 in nine innings to improve to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican scored a run in the top of the first on an error for the early 1-0 lead and added four runs in the second stanza for the 5-0 advantage. In the second, catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) reached on a fielder's choice which allowed a run to come home and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) followed with an RBI single. Shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) then produced a two-run single.
HFU platted runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings for the final 5-3 score.
Haukap went 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI in the win, while Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) and Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) allow had two hits each.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) got the win (4-3) in 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two strikeouts.
Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) picked up her second save of the year in getting the final two outs.
