LADY CHARGERS TAKE TWO FROM CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/16/16) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked eighth in the East Region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Chestnut Hill College, in games played this afternoon at the CHC Softball Field. Dominican won the first game, 2-0 and took the night cap, 6-1.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/16/16) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked eighth in the East Region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Chestnut Hill College, in games played this afternoon at the CHC Softball Field. Dominican won the first game, 2-0 and took the night cap, 6-1.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the fifth frame when the Lady Chargers struck for a run as centerfielder Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to bring home Ariana Trembone (Staten Island, N.Y.) who had led off the inning with a walk.
DC added a run in their half of the seventh as Luzetsky delivered a two out RBI triple to bring home catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) for the 2-0 victory.
Haukap had three hits in the win, while Luzetsky finished with game best two RBIs.
Shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) added two hits.
Starter Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) got the complete game win (14-6), scattering four hits and retiring a season high 10 strikeouts.
Game Two: In game two, Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the second stanza as Trembone brought in a run on an infield single. CHC tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Charger offense rallied with four runs in the fourth as Trembone got things going with a squeeze bunt to bring in a run and a Griffin throwing error allowed another run to score on the play.
Later Haukap plated a run on a double to right center field and Luzetsky followed with a sacrifice fly ball to left field to regain a 5-1 advantage.
DC added a run in the seventh on the infield single off the bat of Regan for the 6-1 win.
Regan and Trembone had three hits each.
Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) recorded the win in six innings of work (7-3), allowing one run on six hits and three strikeouts.
Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) came in to pitch a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out all three batters.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 24-13-1 overall and 16-3 in CACC play.
