SOFTBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK WITH SWEEP OF WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/17/16) The Dominican College softball squad, currently ranked eighth in the East Region Poll, extended their winning streak to eight games after sweeping a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in games played today at the DC Softball Field. DC won the first game by the score of 3-0 and took game two, 4-2.

(4/17/16) The Dominican College softball squad, currently ranked eighth in the East Region Poll, extended their winning streak to eight games after sweeping a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in games played today at the DC Softball Field. DC won the first game by the score of 3-0 and took game two, 4-2.
Game One: Dominican jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice bunt from third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) and a infield single from shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.).
DC added a run in the sixth on the RBI single up-the-middle from Caitlyn Hults (Carlstadt, N.J.) for the 3-0 lead and eventual win.
Regan finished the game with two hits.
Desiree Joines (Stewartstown, Pa.) picked up the shut out win, (15-6) scattering just two hits and striking two in the complete game performance.
Game Two: DC once again struck for two runs in the bottom of the first stanza on a one out two-run blast down the right field line off the bat of right fielder Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.).
The Lady Chargers added a run in the second on the solo home run from freshman Brianna Espino (Holland, Ohio) for the 3-0 lead.
An RBI ground out off the bat of Regan in the fourth increased the Lady Charger lead to 4-0.
The 'Cats brought home runs in the sixth and seventh frames for the fianl 4-2 score.
Catcher Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) went 2-2 with a run scored in the win.
Collins finished with two RBIs.
Starter Jenna Maska (Warren, Mass.) got the win (8-3) in six innings of work, allowing one run on eight hits and two strikouts.
Joines recorded her second save of the season after getting the final two outs of the contest.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 26-13-1 overall and 18-4 in CACC play.
