SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM DEVILS
Philadelphia Pa. (4/23/16) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, University of the Sciences, in games played today. Dominican won the first game, 3-2 and took the night cap, 11-6.

Philadelphia Pa. (4/23/16) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, University of the Sciences, in games played today. Dominican won the first game, 3-2 and took the night cap, 11-6.
Game One: The Devils scored runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead. The score would remain that way until the seventh when the Lady Chargers brought home two runs with one out. Brianna Espino (Holland, Ohio) led off the inning by being hit by-a-pitch and later scored as catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) reached base on an fielding error which allowed Espino to come in to score. Right fielder Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) followed with an RBI single to knot the score at 2-2.
Dominican scored the game-winner in the eighth as shortstop Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.) got a one out single and later came home to score on a passed ball for the 3-2 win.
Luzetsky led the team with two hits in the game.
Reliever Emily Larsen* (Midlothian, Ill.) picked up the win in six innings of shut out relief (4-3), recording nine strikeouts and scattering five hits.
Game Two: The Lady Charger bats came alive in game two as they pounded out 15 hits and scored 11 runs en route to an 11-6 victory.
Haukap went 4-5 with three runs scored in the night cap.
Third basemen Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) recorded three hits, scored two runs and drove home a game best three runs-batted-in.
Shannon Truppi* (Little Ferry, N.J.) had two hits, while Elontay Collins had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Espino had two RBIs in the win.
Larsen picked up the win in game two in 3 1/3 innings of work, allowing two hits and getting three strikeouts.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 28-14-1 and 20-4 in CACC play.
During today's games, the Lady Chargers wore wristbands in memory of assistant sports information director and assistant men's basketball coach, Michael Coffey, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday. WE LOVE YOU MIKE!!!
