LADY CHARGERS EDGED BY UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/10/15) The University of the Sciences defeated the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 3-2, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

The Devils won the opening set by the score of 25-19, while the Lady Chargers took the second set, 25-22 to tie the match at 1-1.
DC never trailed in the second set as they quickly got off to a 4-1 lead and used a service ace from setter Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) to put them at set point, 24-21. A Devil kill made the score 24-22, but a kill from senior Ashley Joyner (Edgewood, Md.) gave Dominican the 25-22 win.
USciences regain the 2-1 lead with a 25-15 third set victory, but Dominican rallied with a 25-16 fourth set win.
Like the second set, the Lady Chargers never trailed in the fourth set and led by as many as 10 points en route to the 25-16 win. Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) recorded the game-winning kill for DC.
In the decisive fifth set, the Devils opened up a 6-2 lead and won the match by taking advantage of a DC serving error and attack error for the 15-11 win and 3-2 match victory.
Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) led Dominican with 14 kills and added eight digs.
Kelly Murphy (Evergreen, Colo.) added 12 kills and a career high 22 digs.
Yeoman finished with nine kills, while Hallstein had the double-double of 34 assists and 10 digs.
Libero Angela Kim (Marton, N.J.) had a team best 25 digs and Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) added 10 digs.
Following the loss Dominican falls to 3-17 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
DC will travel to Post University this coming Tuesday night.
