Hillburn, N.Y. (3/7/17)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team fell in non-conference action to the visiting Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport, 12-9, this afternoon in a game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

UB led 4-2 with 11:54 left in the first half when senior Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) netted her second game goal and freshman Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) followed with three straight scores with midfielder Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) assisting on the last goal to take a 6-4 lead at the intermission.

Dominican outscore Bridgeport 2-1 in the first five minutes of the second half as Gallagher completed the hat trick and rookie Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) recorded her first goal to pull in front 8-5.  The Purple Knights retaliated with five unanswered goals over the next ten minutes to regain a 10-8 lead.  Gallagher scored DC's last goal with 11:50 left in the game, while UB scored the final to goals en route to the 12-9 win.

Gallagher and Fox led Dominican with four goals a-piece in the loss.

Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the loss.

DC now stands at 0-2 on the season.

The Lady Chargers will host Saint Michael's College this coming Friday afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
