HEEGAN SCORES CAREER HIGH IN WIN OVER RAMS

Philadelphia, Pa. (3/25/17)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team defeated host, Philadelphia University, 20-12, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Ravenhill Field.  With the win, Dominican improves to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play and earn their first victory over Philadelphia University since 2012.

Freshman attacker Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) posted a career high five goals in the win.

Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) added four goals, while Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) both contributed three goals.

Fox and teammate Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) each dished out three assists, with Peluso adding two goals.  Senior Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) also had two goals.

Senior Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) had the other Lady Charger score.

Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 11 saves between the pipes.

The Lady Chargers held a 6-0 lead in the first six minutes of the contest, but found themselves down 7-6 with 6:28 left in the first half and trailed 9-1 at the break.

The key to the win for DC was a 7-0 run, spanning almost ten minutes, in the second half which propelled them to a 16-10 lead and eventual win.

Dominican will travel to conference opponent, Felician University this coming Wednesday night.
