WOMEN'S LACROSSE OUTLASTS WILDCATS

Hillburn, N.Y. (4/1/17)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team outlasted the Wilmington University Wildcats, 17-15, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.  With the win, Dominican improves to 4-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Wilmington outscored Dominican in the first half and took a 9-8 advantage into the locker room.  The Lady Charger offense countered in the second half as they outscored the 'Cats 9-6 en route to the 17-15 win.

DC trailed 14-12 with 15:05 left in the second half when they went on a 5-0 run to turn the tables and take a 17-14 lead.  Senior Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) started the run and Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) followed with the game-tying goal as freshman Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) assisted on both goals.  Gallagher recorded the eventual game-winner with 7:36 left in the half.  Dascher followed with her second game goal off the pass from Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Heegan gave the Lady Chargers a three-goal advantage with 1:45 left.  Wilmington scored the final goal of the game for the final score.

Gallagher, Fox and Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) all recorded hat tricks in the win, with Fox adding three assists.

Heegan finished with two goals and two assists, while Dascher and Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) also had two goals each.

Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made four saves.

Dominican will travel to conference foe, Caldwell University this coming Tuesday.
