#3 RAMS EDGE #2 WOMEN'S LACROSSE IN OVERTIME

The Dominican College women's lacrosse team fell in a CACC Championship Quarterfinal game against #4 Chestnut Hill College.

Lakewood, N.J. (4/29/17)  The #3 Philadelphia University Rams edged the #2 Dominican College Lady Chargers, 16-15, in overtime in the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Semifinal game played at Georgian Court University.

Senior attacker Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) netted four goals and one assist in the loss.

Fellow senior Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) scored three goals and two assists, while Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) also had three goals.

Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) and CACC Rookie of the Year, Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.), each netted two goals and two assists in the loss.

Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made a career high 15 saves in the loss.

Dominican trailed 7-4 with under ten minutes left in the first half, when the Lady Chargers used a 2-1 run, with two goals from Heegan to knot the game at 7-7.  Heegan netted the half's last goal with 16 ticks on the clock to make the score 8-8 at the break.

The game was tied 11-11 with 22:45 left in regulation when DC used a 3-0 spurt with goals from Fitzgerald, June and Fox to pull infront 14-11.

The Rams would re-tie the game with their own 3-0 run, but Fitzgerald would give Dominican a 15-14 edge with 2:20 to play on a goal off the pass from Peluso.  A Ram goal with 34 ticks left forced overtime.

Philadelphia scored the game winner 47 seconds into the overtime for the 16-15 victory.

Following the loss, Dominican finishes the season with an overall record of 8-6.
