Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/21/16) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Bears of Bloomfield College in games played at Veteran's Memorial Park. Dominican won the first game, 16-3 and took the nightcap, 11-3.

Game One: The Bears scored two runs in the first on a two out single for the early lead.
DC tied the game in the second as catcher Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field to bring home a run. Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) produced an RBI ground out for the tying run.
BC countered with a run in the third frame on single up-the-middle, but Dominican answered in the bottom half of the inning off a RBI single to left center field off the bat of Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) to re-tie the game, 3-3.
Dominican added four runs in the fifth as Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) got things started with a one out RBI single to left center field. Bravo later followed with an RBI single to right center field and Franzone delivered a two out two-run single to center for the 7-3 lead.
Soto used a one out triple to center field in the sixth to increase the lead to 8-3. DC tacked on four more runs in the seventh as Bravo started things off with an RBI ground out and Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) recorded a two run double to right field. Gray later stole third and advanced home a Bear throwing error for the 12-3 lead.
Four more runs came home in the eighth, highlighted by a three-run blast over the right field fence from Franzone to make the score 16-3.
Starter Corey Pic (Montvale, N.J.) improved to 5-2 with the win in seven innings of work, allowing three runs on nine hits and collecting five strikeouts.
Franzone had a career high six RBIs.
Soto led the team with three hits.
Game Two: Shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) gave DC the 1-0 lead in the second stanza on the RBI single to left field.
Lopez recorded the one out single to right field to bring home the second Charger run and second basemen Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) followed with an RBI double to left field. Bravo made the score 4-0 on a sacrifice fly ball hit to center field to bring home Decker.
Soto increased the lead to 5-0 in the fourth as he recorded his second RBI triple on the night, this one being on a ball to left field.
Franzone used a single to right field to bring home Bravo in the fifth to make the score 6-0. Designated hitter Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) brought Franzone home on a single to right and increase the lead to 7-0.
Bloomfield got on the scoreboard in the in the sixth on a ground out, a Charger throwing error and a double to cut the lead to 7-3.
DC added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth as Lopez singled to left field to score Soto, who led the inning off with his second triple of the game. Three batters later, Bravo brought home two runs on a single through the left side and Libio would later double home Bravo to extend the lead to 11-3.
John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) got the win (2-4) in six innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits and three strikeouts.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 15-23 overall and 8-9 in CACC play.
