(5/13/16) The #6 Dominican College baseball team was eliminated from the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championships after falling in two games today at Wilson Field. In their second game of the day, senior first basemen Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) recorded his 200th career hit.

(5/13/16) The #6 Dominican College baseball team was eliminated from the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championships after falling in two games today at Wilson Field. In their second game of the day, senior first basemen Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) recorded his 200th career hit.
The Chargers fell in the opening game of the day to #4 Philadelphia University by the score of 9-4 and were eliminated from the tournament by the top-seeded Golden Falcons of Felician University, 12-4.
Game One: The Rams got on the scoreboard in the top of the first on a two-run blast over the left field fence.
DC got a run back in the top of the second as center fielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a two out run-scoring single to right field.
Philadelphia added a run in the bottom of the second, scored three in the fourth and used a run in the sixth to increase the lead to 7-1.
Dominican used a two out three-run double to left center field from junior Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 7-4 in the eighth. The Rams scored two runs in the bottom portion of the frame for the final 9-4 loss.
Soto and senior catcher Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) each recorded two hits in the loss, while Gray finished with three runs batted in.
Starter Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) suffered the loss (1-3) in 3 1/3 innings of work, allowing six runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: The elimination game saw a 25 minute rain delay that halted the play midway through.
The Golden Falcons scored two runs in the first and second stanzas to take the early 4-0 win.
Lopez led off the fourth inning with his 200th career hit on a single to left center field. Two batters later designated hitter Jonel Ozuna (New York, N.Y.) hit a two-run blast to right field to cut the lead in half.
Felician countered with three runs in their half of the fourth to pull in front, 7-2.
The Chargers platted two more runs in the sixth as shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) hit an RBI infield single and Soto drew a bases loaded walk to make the score 7-4.
The Golden Falcons scored two runs in the seventh and tacked on three more runs in the eighth for the final 12-4 victory.
Lopez and Ozuna each had two hits in the loss, with Ozuna adding two RBIs.
Starter Corey Pic (Montvale, N.J.) took the loss (6-4) in 3 2/3 innings of work, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and three strikeouts.
With the losses, Dominican ends their season with an overall record of 19-29.
