BASEBALL SPLITS WITH MERRIMACK COLLEGE
North Andover, Mass. (3/13/16) The Dominican College baseball team split a non-conference double-header with host, Merrimack College in games played this afternoon at Warrior Diamond. The Warriors won the opened 19-4, while the Chargers rallied with a 10-1 victory in game two to improve to 5-6 on the year.

North Andover, Mass. (3/13/16) The Dominican College baseball team split a non-conference double-header with host, Merrimack College in games played this afternoon at Warrior Diamond. The Warriors won the opened 19-4, while the Chargers rallied with a 10-1 victory in game two to improve to 5-6 on the year.
Game One: The Warriors scored five runs in the second inning, but the Chargers got a run back in the third as first basemen Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) hit a solo blast over the right field fence.
DC added three more runs in the seventh on an error and the RBI double by Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.). Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) followed with a sacrifice fly ball to centerfield to bring home the third run to make the score 10-4.
MC put three more runs on the board in the bottom of the seventh and tacked on five more in the eighth for the 19-4 victory.
Soto had two hits in the loss.
Thomas Saffiotti (Bergenfield, N.J.) suffered the loss in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing 10 runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Game Two: Dominican trailed 1-0 until the third inning when as Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) ground out to second base to bring home Brandon Simone (Bayside, N.Y.).
DC took the lead in the sixth inning as shortstop Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) singled to centefield to bring home two runs and give the Chargers their first lead at 3-1.
The Chargers tacked on three more runs in the seventh to increase the lead to 6-1. Lopez doubled to centerfield to plate a run and Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) followed two batters later with a run-scoring triple to center. Simone singled to right field to score the third run of the stanza.
Bernacet singled in the eighth to score a run and Decker followed with an sacrifice fly to to left to score a run and make the score 8-1.
Dominican added two more runs in the ninth on on a two out two-run double down the right field line by Soto for the final 10-1.
Soto, Bernacet and Libio all three hits and two RBIs in the win, while Simone also had three hits.
Junior Corey Pic (Montvale, N.J.) improved to 2-0 on the season going seven innings and allowing one run on eight hits and five strikeouts.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) pitched the final two shut out innings.
