NINTH INNING RALLY LEADS DOMINICAN TO SWEEP OF GRIFFINS
Norristown, Pa. (4/13/16) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Chestnut Hill College, in games played today at Latshaw-McCarthy Field. With the sweep, the Chargers improve to 11-19 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

Norristown, Pa. (4/13/16) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Chestnut Hill College, in games played today at Latshaw-McCarthy Field. With the sweep, the Chargers improve to 11-19 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican got the scoring going in the first inning as center fielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) got a two out double to right field and then stole third base and advanced home on a Griffin throwing error for the 1-0 advantage.
DC added a run in the second inning as catcher Leonardo Bravo (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to plate second basemen Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.).
CHC got a run back in their half of the third stanza, but Dominican regained a two-run lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly ball to left field off the bat of shortstop, Joseph Libio (Tamarac, Fla.). The Griffins made the score 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth and the Chargers scored a run in the sixth on the RBI single to center field from Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) to put the team ahead, 4-2. Chestnut Hill added two runs in the bottom frame to tie the score at 4-4.
In the top of the ninth with two outs and a runner at third, pinch hitter Jonel Ozuna (New York, N.Y.) delivered an infield single to bring home Lopez and lift DC to the 5-4 win.
Designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) had three hits in the win, while Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Decker added two hits each.
Reliever John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) got the win (1-3) in two innings of relief. Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) recorded his third save of the year after getting the final two outs.
Game Two: The Griffins struck first in the night cap with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Chargers tied the game in the third as Libio produced a run-scoring single to right center field. CHC regained the lead in the bottom of the inning with two runs for the 3-1 lead.
DC tied the score in the fourth on a wild pitch and a run-scoring single up-the-middle off the bat of Lopez. They later took their first lead of the game in the fifth on the RBI double to right field from Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) for the 4-3 edge. Chestnut Hill re-tied the game in the bottom stanza and added two more runs in the sixth for the 6-4 advantage.
Dominican rallied with three runs in the top of the ninth as Franzone and Libio brought home runs on a infield single and a single to left center field to tie the game and Bernacet delivered a fly ball to left field to bring home Franzone and give the team the 7-6 lead.
Reliever Thomas Saffiotti (Bergenfield, N.J.) pitched the final two innings, including a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth for the win (2-2).
