RAMS TOP DOMINICAN IN CACC TWINBILL
Pomona, N.Y. (4/24/16) The Philadelphia University Rams upended the Dominican College baseball team twice this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) twinbill played at Provident Bank Park. Philadelphia won game one, 5-4 in ten innings and took the night cap, 3-1 in ten innings.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/24/16) The Philadelphia University Rams upended the Dominican College baseball team twice this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) twinbill played at Provident Bank Park. Philadelphia won game one, 5-4 in ten innings and took the night cap, 3-1 in ten innings.
Game One: The Rams scored first in the top half of the first inning on a Charger error, but Dominican tied the game in the bottom frame on a double-play ball.
Philadelphia regained a 3-1 lead in the fourth scoring two runs. Dominican added a run in the bottom of the fourth on the single through the left side from shortstop Joseph Libio (Tarmarac, Fla.).
DC tied the game in the fifth on a RBI groundout by Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.)
The Rams scored a run in the seventh on a squeeze bun to reclaim a 4-3 advantage.
Third basemen Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) blasted a solo home run over the right field fence in the eighth to re-tie the game at 4-4.
Philadelphia went ahead in the top of the tenth on a one out solo home run down the left field line to go ahead, 5-4.
Reliever Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) suffered the loss (1-2) in three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and two strikeouts.
Starter Franklin Miller (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) went seven innings in the no decision, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and 10 strikeouts.
Game Two: Philadelphia scored in the first on an RBI groundout for the early 1-0 lead.
The Rams would maintain the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the ninth when Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) hit a ground ball to second base which allowed pinch runner Anthony Hunter (Palm City, Fla.) to score to force extra innings.
In the top of the tenth, Brandon Quaranta hit a two out two-run home run, his second on the night, over the left field fence to lift his team to the 3-1 win.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) took the loss (1-3) in 3 2/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and two strikeouts.
Starter Nick Bird (Rotterdam, N.Y.) pitched 6 1/3 innings, recording eight strikeouts outs and allowing one run (not earned) on five hits.
With the sweep, Dominican falls to 15-24 overall and 8-10 in CACC play.
The Chargers will travel to the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday for a non-conference double-header.
