DOMINICAN SPLITS WITH GRIFFINS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/24/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in games played today at Palisades Credit Union Park. Dominican won the first game, 5-4, while the Griffins took the night cap, 3-1 in eight innings.

(4/24/17) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in games played today at Palisades Credit Union Park. Dominican won the first game, 5-4, while the Griffins took the night cap, 3-1 in eight innings.
Game One: Designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) hit an RBI single up-the-middle for the early 1-0 advantage. The Griffins rallied with two runs in the fourth, but the Chargers tied the game 2-2 in the bottom frame as Bartolomei scored on a double play ball.
CHC regained a 3-2 edge in the fifth and held the lead until the seventh when left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) singled home a run to make the score 3-all.
The Griffins used a home run to right field in the top of the ninth to reclaim the lead, but third basemen Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) brought home Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) to even up the score and Gray followed with the game-winning single to left field to score Franzone and give Dominican the 5-4 win.
Second basemen Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) led DC with three hits, while Gray had two hits and two RBIs and Chidsey also had two hits and scored two runs.
Reliever John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) picked up the win (3-2) in four innings of work, allowing one run on three hits and one strikeout.
Game Two: Centerfielder Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) put the Chargers ahead 1-0 in the top of the first with a two out solo home run over the left field fence.
The Griffins tied the game in the third on a wild pitch and the score remained tied, 1-1, until the top of the eighth when CHC used a two out two-run double to left center field to pull ahead 3-1.
Senior Brett Schneider (Coral Springs, Fla.) suffered the loss (2-2), allowing three runs on eight hits and nine strikeouts over eight innings of work.
With the split, Dominican now stands at 15-23 overall and 10-10 in CACC play.
