DOMINICAN DOMINATES FIRST HALF TO DOWN POST UNIVERSITY

Waterbury, Conn. (3/20/17)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team outscored Post University 10-3 in the first half en route to a 17-7 victory in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener played today at LaMoy Field.

With the win Dominican improves to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in CACC play.

The Lady Chargers began the game with six straight goals spanning the first 11 and a half minutes, including a man-down goal from senior Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.).  Later a 3-0 spurt would increase the lead to 9-1 with 11:36 left to play and a goal at 4:22 from junior Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) would make the score 10-2 and they went into the break with the 10-3 advantage.

DC opened the second half on a 3-0 run with Gallagher picking up two of the goals and three minutes later consecutive scores made the score 15-4 with 22:15 left to play.  From there the teams traded goals to close out the remaining 15 minutes.

Gallagher finished with a season high five goals in the win.

Peluso and senior Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) recorded three goals a-piece, with Fitzgerald adding two assists.

Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) contributed two goals each.

Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) each had one goal.

Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made four saves.

Dominican is set to travel to CACC foe, Philadelphia University this coming Saturday.
