DOMINICAN ROWING BEGINS ITS SEASON AT THE CAYUGA SPRINTS
Ithaca, N.Y. (9/25/23) The Dominican University New York women's rowing team Ithaca was in action on Sunday as it began its 2023-24 season competing in the Annual Cayuga Sprints.
Other schools in attendance were RIT, Rochester, Ithaca College, Cornell and St. John Fisher.
Athletes raced in two events - a 2k time trial, followed by a 1k head-to-head sprint. Final times were calculated by doubling the 1k time & adding it to the 2k time. Medals were awarded to the top finisher in each boat class.
Tara Long (Myshall, Ireland) took first place (of 5) in the Women's 1x in 17:13.9.
The women's lightweight 2x event saw the Lady Charger team of Amy Anil (Nyack, N.Y.) and Yuliana Perez (Monroe, N.Y.) finish in second place with a time of 19:23.3.
Dominican returns to action on Sunday, October 1 when they travel to the Head of the Riverfront to be held at Riverside Park in Hartford, Conn.
