MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS LOSS TO KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/2/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team suffered a non-conference loss to the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck) on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-4 overall on the season. The Knights won three consecutive sets over the Chargers to extend their winning streak to six and improve to 6-1 overall.
The Chargers started the match off strong by taking a competitive opening set for the 1-0 advantage. FDU built an early 13-6 lead in the second set and the Chargers battled to cut the deficit to three points but the Knights secured the win to tie the match.
FDU built an early lead on the Chargers in the third set and Dominican battled back again but the Knights took the 2-1 advantage. The Knights rolled in the fourth set using a 16-5 run to close out the victory.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the way for the Chargers with 13 kills and 15.5 points. Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) added 10 kills and 12 points while Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) recorded five kills, four digs, two solo blocks, and 7.5 points.
Tyler Roukey (Hudson, Ohio) recorded a team-high seven digs while Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) finished with a team-high 28 assists.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow night when they host Merrimack College at 8:00 PM.
