MEN'S VOLLEYBALL UPENDED BY MERRIMACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/3/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team fell in the second half of back to back home matches tonight to Merrimack College 3-0.
The Chargers fall to 2-5 overall on the season while the Warriors improve to 2-4 overall.
The Chargers fell in sets one and two by a score of 25-22 and then the Warriors completed the sweep with a 25-15 victory in the third set.
After dropping the opening set, the Chargers bounced back with a strong effort in the second set and led by four late. Trailing 22-18, the Warriors scored seven unanswered points to take a 2-0 match advantage.
MC rolled in the third set to defeat the Chargers 25-15 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
The Chargers were led by Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) who recorded six kills and scored seven points. Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) and Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.) each recorded five kills. Wiley also recorded a team-high eight digs while Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) added a team-high 18 assists and seven digs.
Logan Whitaker had a match high 14 kills with the Warriors and scored 16 points. Reece Lindstrom had a match high 29 assists while Kyle Standage led MC with 13 digs.
The Chargers return to action on the road next Tuesday when they visit Sacred Heart University at 7:00 PM.
