Pleasantville, N.Y. (4/11/17) The Pace University Setters defeated the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 11-10, in an extra-inning non-conference game played at Finnerty Field.

Pleasantville, N.Y. (4/11/17) The Pace University Setters defeated the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 11-10, in an extra-inning non-conference game played at Finnerty Field.
The Chargers scored three runs in the top of the first inning as Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) drew bases loaded walks for a 2-0 lead. Catcher Tyler Malia (Delran, N.J.) then hit a sac fly ball to left field to bring home another run.
Pace got a run back in the bottom of the first and added three more in the fifth to pull in front 4-3.
DC score two runs in the seventh on a throwing error and a single by Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) to regain the 5-4 edge, but Pace countered in the bottom frame with two runs to go ahead 6-5.
Dominican rallied once again with six runs in the ninth as Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) and Bartolomei both had two-run singles, while Bernacet produced a run-scoring single to left center to put the Chargers ahead 11-6.
The Setters answered back again in the bottom of the ninth with five runs on six hits to tie the score and force extra innings.
An RBI single down the left field line by Pace in the bottom of the tenth lifted them to an 11-10 win.
Chidsey finished the game with two hits.
Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.), Soto and Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) all scored two runs a-piece.
Reliever Kyle Morgan (Boca Raton, Fla.) suffered the loss (1-1) two thirds innings of work, allowing one run on two hits.
