MEN'S LACROSSE EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

The Chargers improve to 1-1 overall on the season and the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-2 overall.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) recorded 13 saves for the Chargers to earn his first win of the season. Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.), Cole Vencack (Smithtown, N.Y.), and Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) all finished the game with three goals each.
Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.), Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.), and Charlie Bassi (Allentown, N.J.) each added one goal for the Chargers.
Pierce recorded a team-high four assists for the Chargers. Martini, William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.), and Nicolas Jelovic (Massapequa, N.Y.) each added two assists. Lorcan Teahan also added an assist.
The Chargers held a slim 3-2 lead after the first quarter over the Yellow Jackets. AIC took the lead in the second quarter, but the Chargers answered back with four unanswered goals and entered halftime with a 7-4 lead.
The Yellow Jackets were able to cut he DC lead to two goals in the third quarter and trailed 8-6 entering the fourth quarter.
Both teams scored five goals in the final quarter. The Yellow Jackets cut the DC lead to 12-11 with just over one minute remaining, but the Chargers held the lead and scored one more team before time ran out to secure the 13-11 win.
For the Yellow Jackets, Rusty Stone led the way with four goals. Avery Foye finished with three goals. Jason Vickery scored two goals and added three assists. Andrew Boyer and Matt Quinlan each added one goal. Quinlan also recorded three assists.
The Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, March 1st when they host Franklin Pierce University at Torne Valley Sports Complex at 1:00 PM.
