CHARGERS SWEEP YELLOW JACKETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/5/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team earned a conference victory at home over American International College.
The Chargers improve to 11-11 overall and 3-2 in the ECC while AIC falls to 2-16 overall and 1-4 in conference play on the season.
The Chargers opened the match with a 25-19 victory in the opening set. The Chargers outlasted AIC in the second set and scored six out of the last nine points to take a 2-0 advantage.
DU jumped out to an early lead in the third set but AIC fought their way back to take the lead. Both teams went back and forth down the stretch but the Chargers used a 7-3 run to take the third set 25-21 and secured the sweep.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wisc.) recorded a match-high 17 kills and scored 19 points. Wiley also added five digs, two block assists, and one solo block. Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) recorded 10 kills and 10.5 points.
Gavin Tate (Appleton, Wis.) and Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) each recorded six kills. Tate also added three solo blocks and two block assists. Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) recorded a team-high 36 assists and four digs while Tyler Roukey (Hudson, Ohio) added a team-high six digs.
The Chargers return to action next Saturday, April 13th when they host Roberts Wesleyan University for their regular season finale at 11:00 AM in the Hennessy Center.
