LADY CHARGERS SPLIT WITH GRIFFINS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/27/23) The Dominican University New York softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in games played today at the South Orangetown Little League Field. The Griffins won the first game, 12-1 in five innings while Dominican earned a 9-7 win in a rain shortened game two.

The Griffins won the first game, 12-1 in five innings while Dominican earned a 9-7 win in a rain shortened game two.
The Lady Chargers improve to 4-18 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Game One: The Griffins held a 6-0 lead after a half inning of play, but Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the first as outfielder Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) blasted a solo home run down the left field line.
Miscia finished the game with two hits.
Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) suffered the loss.
Game Two: CHC scored three runs in the top of the first, but Dominican countered with two runs in the bottom of the second stanza. Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) brought home a run on a sacrifice fly ball hit to right field and Ridge scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 3-2.
Two more Griffin runs extended their advantage to 5-2, but the Lady Chargers charged back into the contest with a four-run third frame. Designated player Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) started the scoring with an RBI single to left center and first basemen Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) followed with a three-run homer over the centerfield fence to claim a 6-5 advantage.
Dominican added three more runs in the fourth as Miscia hit her second home run of the day, this one being a three-run shot down the left field line to increase the lead to 9-5.
The Griffins scored two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 9-7, but the game would be called prior to the start of the bottom of the fifth inning du e to rain.
Salcido had two hits in the win.
The complete game victory went to Ridge as she improves to 1-3 on the season.
Up next for the Lady Chargers is a road trip to Caldwell University scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
