The Lady Chargers improve to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) led the Lady Chargers in scoring with 15 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Mills also added four assists and three rebounds. Kristen Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) finished with 12 points including two three-pointers. Teklits also finished with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and a team-high seven assists. Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also added 11 points and pulled down a team-high seven boards. Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn.) scored 10 points while Angelina DiMarsico (Stony Point, N.Y.) added seven points.
The Lady Chargers held Post to 17.2% shooting from three-point range. Dominican forced 20 Post turnovers and scored 19 points off of turnovers. Dominican also outscored Post 30-18 in the paint.
The Lady Chargers got off to a fast start in the first quarter on a 15-2 run through the first five minutes of the game. Post ended the first quarter on a 12-6 run but Dominican held the 21-14 lead by the start of the second quarter.
Each team added nine points in the second quarter and the Lady Chargers held a 30-23 lead at halftime.
Post rallied in the third quarter to take their first lead of the game but Dominican finished the third quarter on a 10-4 run and led 44-40 by the start of the fourth quarter.
Dominican used a big 26-point fourth quarter to complete the victory.
The Eagles were led by Tyara Mcqueen who scored a team-high 13 points. Tyree Allen finished with 12 points while Saule Kaupyte finished the game with a double-double on 11 points and a team-high 16 rebounds.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday, December 6th when they travel to the University of Bridgeport for a conference game with the Purple Knights. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
